Inbibo Launches AdonisFX 2.0 With Native Houdini Integration

LONDON, UK – March 4, 2026 – Inbibo today released AdonisFX 2.0, a major update to its digital anatomy framework that introduces native Houdini support, self-collision detection, and anisotropic muscle simulation. The release addresses a critical challenge in modern VFX, animation, and game pipelines: creating believable digital characters that can move seamlessly between Maya and Houdini while maintaining consistent, production-quality results.

The new release enables studios running hybrid pipelines to build anatomical rigs once and deploy them across both platforms with uniform behavior. Characters transfer between applications without conversion, data loss, or the need to rebuild muscle systems, significantly reducing technical overhead and iteration time.

"Studios have evolved to use the best tool for each task, but that creates integration headaches," said Marco Romeo, CTO of Inbibo, whose VFX credits include The Lion King and Game Of Thrones. "AdonisFX 2.0 eliminates that pain by providing a unified framework that works identically in Maya and Houdini. Artists get the same anatomy simulation results regardless of where they're working in the pipeline."

"AdonisFX has proven itself here at Imageworks and we’re very happy to see Houdini support in the latest release. This means we can now run AdonisFX across our ever evolving pipeline and that allows us to tackle character challenges across different productions with confidence", said Mike Ford, CTO at Sony Pictures Imageworks.

What's New in AdonisFX 2.0:

Cross-Platform Capabilities:

Native Houdini Integration: AdonisFX now runs inside both Maya and Houdini with uniform behavior. Rigs built in one application work identically in the other, enabling true hybrid pipeline workflows without technical translation layers or vendor lock-in.

Simulation Advancements:

Interactive Performance: Adonis delivers instant feedback as artists work. Scrub through the timeline and see muscle compression, skin sliding, and fat jiggling update live, in the same scene. No caching required. This interactive workflow means more iterations per session and faster creative decision-making.

Fast-Converging Simulation: Artists can jump to any frame in the timeline and receive accurate results within seconds, without requiring full timeline playback. When a director gives a note on frame 500, artists can work on that frame immediately - no waiting for the system to recalculate preceding frames, even with self-collision.

Self-Collision Detection: Advanced collision systems prevent muscle interpenetration during extreme poses or complex creature deformations, maintaining anatomical believability without additional clean-up passes.

Anisotropic Muscle Simulation: Directional muscle fiber behavior creates more realistic tissue deformation, particularly visible in large muscle groups during dynamic movement or extreme character poses.

The framework's modular architecture scales from simple crowd agents to hero characters without requiring different workflows or systems. Studios can promote or demote character complexity as production demands change, adding or removing simulation layers without rebuilding rigs from scratch. This approach can reduce character setup time from weeks to days, particularly valuable when production schedules shift or creative direction changes late in the pipeline.

"AdonisFX 2.0 is about removing friction from character pipelines," said Paul Doyle, CEO of Inbibo. "If you're animating in Maya and simulating in Houdini, your simulation rigs now work identically in both applications. No rebuilding, no translation, no surprises."

Built by a team with decades of experience creating high-end creatures and characters for major film, TV, and game productions, AdonisFX is production proven on some of the biggest movies of recent years.

AdonisFX 2.0 is available now:

  • Pro licenses starting from £110 per month (node-locked) or £150 per month (floating)
